ORBA

Foundations

Philosophy

Five principles govern every ORBA decision. When a new situation isn't covered by a rule, these decide.

01

Night first

ORBA lives in darkness. The near-black night-950 canvas is not a 'dark mode' — it is the brand's natural habitat, calm by default. Light is information: every lighter pixel should earn its place by communicating something.

Compose on night-950; let content glow out of the dark.

Flood panels with light fills or large bright areas.

02

One warm signal

Coral is ORBA's only warm voice, and scarcity is what gives it authority. In any view, coral belongs to the single most important action or live element — the Start Session, the active day, the current stream.

One coral emphasis per view; support it with glow.

Use coral for decoration, borders, or several equal elements at once.

03

Glass, not walls

Surfaces are translucent layers floating over the void — a dark gradient, a 12px blur, a hairline of light. Depth comes from darkness and these light borders, never from grey drop-shadows.

Separate layers with hairline white borders and blur.

Stack opaque grey panels or use classic material shadows.

04

Calm numbers

Data is the hero of focus and wellbeing products, so ORBA renders it huge, Light-weight and tightly tracked — then surrounds it with quiet. A timer reads like a moon, not a dashboard.

Display numerals in Light at display sizes with generous space.

Bold small numerals or crowd data with labels.

05

Motion breathes

Animation follows the rhythms of breath: slow pulses, gentle drifts, springy but soft arrivals. Motion exists to reassure — something is alive and listening — never to hurry the user.

Loop ambient motion slowly; enter with the spring easing.

Snap, flash, or animate faster than 150ms for spatial moves.

Fundamental rules

  1. 01Body text contrasts at least 4.5:1 against its background; large numerals at least 3:1.
  2. 02Text on coral is always night-950 — never white.
  3. 03Every interactive element shows a visible coral focus ring for keyboard users.
  4. 04Touch targets are at least 44px on mobile.
  5. 05Every animation has a reduced-motion fallback; ambient loops simply stop.
  6. 06Error red (danger) is reserved for genuine problems — it is never a second accent.
  7. 07Components consume semantic tokens only; primitives never appear in component code.
